What toys stand up to the Big Dogs? With three Rottweilers I have over ten years of research. Some of the toughest toys come from the people that make the Kong line of dog toys. Over the years I have purchased lots of dog toys for my dogs and their friends. Kongs stand up well, but then there is Rasha. Rasha can chew through a big Kong toy. Who is Rasha, she has about ten year of experience shredding toys. Next to a Kong, a dog’s favorite toy is a Tennis ball and a Chuck-it. Most any responsible dog owner of a medium to large breed dog has a chuck-it. Did you know the chuck-it was invented in Issaquah? I find that I have to buy the real type tennis ball…but no matter how tough it is Rasha has her way with it in the end. Usually I stop her when she starts to chew the fuzz off of the ball. She eben chewed the end off of a Chuck-it once Kongs come in so many sizes and shapes. With the rope or without. The Kong with a rope is use full for throwing. My dogs enjoy throwing the Kong around by the rope. Defiantly an outdoor toy. If they do bring it in watch out if they start tossing it about. Frisbees are a dog favorite. Kong makes a Frisbee of their durable rubber material. A little different to through it is tough. Sketch and Makita have played tug with it and it stayed in one piece. Although they did puncture it with teeth marks, they did not rip it apart like other consumer Frisbees. There are also other K9 Frisbees out there and before I got the Kong Frisbee I tried a few of them. The other K9 Frisbees were made of a harder plastic material and had a dog bone handle on the top that made it easy for the dog to pick up. There is one toy that Rasha has not been able to chew apart. It’s a purple ball with three holes in it with another ball in the middle. This toy has lasted longer than five years. But I’ll save that toy for next entry. Steven Allen |
